Charlotte County Cancer Society Inc. (est. 1958)

Our Goals

To help take away some of the financial burdens and worries for those fighting and living with the effects of cancer in Charlotte County.

To have all donations benefit Charlotte County’s residents who suffer from cancer.

Who We Are

Since 1958, we have been a small independent local organization of dedicated volunteers who help people who are fighting cancer while we run and maintain the day-to-day requirements of this organization and raise funds to enable these tasks.  Our offices are our kitchen or dining room tables.

What We Do

Over the last 60 years, we have helped Charlotte County residents with their unplanned costs of drugs, dressings/ostomy supplies, prosthetics and transportation.

We work with the social workers at the Regional Hospital in Saint John, the staff of extra-mural outlets, local drug stores, the medical community and the general public to refer those who need some assistance.

We can assist with money for transportation to medical appointments or treatments, including gas cards or ferry passes.  Clients can charge their prescription costs to us at their drug store when preapproved.  We have hospital beds, which we loan out, or we can cover the cost of purchasing or renting other equipment needed to make life a little easier.

We sponsor a coffee machine in the Hospice office at Charlotte County Hospital for clients receiving chemo locally.

We have donated funds for hospital equipment that help treat or diagnose cancer.

How We Are Funded

We receive no government funding.  All funding comes from fundraisers and donations.

95% of the funds raised continues to be used to support our Charlotte County neighbours with cancer.

The source of funding has traditionally been through the sale of memorial cards and donations. However, more local citizens have joined us and are initiating all types of fund-raising activities for Charlotte County Cancer. Check out the "News" and the "Gallery" portion of our website to see what is happening with us and the volunteers. You might like to join in.

For people fighting or recovering from cancer, it is helpful if you give us information on our diagnosis and how we can help.  There are no confusing forms to fill out as we do not require financial information.  Your mandate is to remove some of the financial burdens and worries that comes with fighting cancer.

For people wishing to volunteer, let us know if you have a preference on how you wish to help or any questions you might have.
